Inspired by the winter desert skies, these new oil paintings in vintage frames capture the vivid colors and radiant illuminations across the Coachella Valley. The exhibition opens at JANSSEN Artspace’s new gallery ARTBOX on Thur. Feb 13th and goes to Mar 16th. The gallery is located at 255 East Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs

All the paintings are framed with vintage frames I’ve collected over the years. Typically you start with a painting and then look at the framing to support it. This is going in the opposite direction. The frame is the starting point and the painting must respond to that aesthetic constraint.
